Filling the tank
Theadvertisedfuelcapacityofthefueltankonyour
vehicleisequaltotheratedrefillcapacityofthefuel
tankaslistedintheRefillcapacitiessectionofthis
chapter.
Theadvertisedcapacityistheamountofthe
indicatedcapacityandtheemptyreservecombined.
Indicatedcapacityisthedifferenceintheamountof
fuelinafulltankandatankwhenthefuelgauge
indicatesempty.Emptyreserveisthesmallamount
offuelremaininginthefueltankafterthefuel
gaugeindicatesempty.
Theamountofusablefuelintheemptyreserve
variesandshouldnotberelieduponto
increasedrivingrange.Whenrefuelingyour
vehicleafterthefuelgaugeindicatesempty,
youmightnotbeabletorefuelthefullamount
oftheadvertisedcapacityofthefueltankdue
totheemptyreservestillpresentinthetank.
Forconsistentresultswhenfillingthefueltank:

Turntheengine/ignitionswitchtotheoffposition
priortorefueling,anerrorinthereadingwill
resultiftheengineisleftrunning.

filling.

Usethesamesideofthesamepumpandhave
thevehiclefacingthesamedirectioneachtime
youfillup.
