prevailing road cond itions. The “ESP/ TCS Ind icator
Light ” will flash any time the ESP or TCS is active and
help ing to improve vehicle stability. If the “ESP/ TCS

As an added safety featu re, you r vehicle has been
equ ipped with a tire pressu re monitoring system (TPMS)
that illuminates a low tire pressu re telltale when one or
more of you r tires is significantly und er-inflated . Accord -
ingly, when the low tire pressu re telltale illuminates, you
shou ld stop and check you r tires as soon as possible, and
inflate them to the prop er pressu re. Driving on a signifi-
cantly und er-inflated tire causes the tire to overheat and
can lead to tire failu re. Und er-inflation also red uces fuel
efficiency and tire tread life, and may affect the vehicle ’s
hand ling and stop ping ability.

Each tire, inclu ding the spare (if provid ed),
shou ld be checked monthly when cold and
inflated to the inflation pressu re recom mend ed
by the vehicle manu factu rer on the vehicle
placard or tire inflation pressu re label. (If you r vehicle
has tires of a different size than the size ind icated on the
vehicle placard or tire inflation pressu re label, you shou ld
determ ine the prop er tire inflation pressu re for those
tires.)
Please note that the TPMS is not a substitu te for prop er
tire maintenance, and it is the driver ’s resp onsibility to
maintain correct tire pressu re, even if und er-inflation has
not reached the level to trigger illumination of the TPMS
low tire pressu re telltale. (See page 294 for more infor-
mation.)
