WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES
NOTE:
Tire shou ld be stow ed with the “beau ty” side
JUMP STARTING PROCEDURE
up. Storing the tire upside down may resu lt in scratching
or damage to the wheel face. Continu e winching up the
tire until you hear the winch “ratchet ” three times.
Dou ble check to ensu re the tire is snu g against the
und erbod y of the vehicle. Dam age to the winch cable
may resu lt if the vehicle is driven with the tire loose.
NOTE: Check the charge ind icator on the battery. If the
ind icator is light or yellow, rep lace the battery.
1. Wear eye protection and rem ove any metal jewelry
such as watch band s or bracelets that might make an
unintend ed electrical contact.

When boost is provid ed by a battery in another

vehicle, park that vehicle within booster cable reach but
withou t letting the vehicles tou ch. Set the parking brake,
place the transm ission in P (Park), and turn the ignition
to OFF for both vehicles.
Donotusepowertoolstowinchthetireupordown.
Impact type tools may damage the winch mecha-
nism.

Turn off the heater, rad io and all unnecessary electrical
load s.

Reinstall the plastic plug into the floor of the cargo
area.
4. Connect one end of a jumper cable to the positive
term inal of the discharged battery. Connect the other end
of the sam e cable to the positive term inal of the booster
battery.
