STARTING AND OPERATING
N(Neutral)
WARNING!
No power is transm itted from the engine to the drive
axle. When the brakes are released , the vehicle can roll
freely. Do not engage in N (Neutral) position while
driving excep t to coast when the vehicle is in danger of
skid ding (e.g., on icy road s).
Unintended movement of a vehicle could injure
those in and near the vehicle. As with all vehicles,
youshouldneverexitavehiclewhiletheengineis
running.Beforeexitingavehicle,youshouldapply
theparkbrake,shiftthetransmissionintoP(Park),
andremovethekeyfromtheignition.Oncethekey
isremovedfromtheignitionthetransmissionshift
leverislockedintheP(Park)position,securingthe
vehicle against unwanted movement. Furthermore,
youshouldneverleavechildrenunattendedinsidea
vehicle.
NOTE: Towing the vehicle, coasting, or driving for any
other reason with selector lever in N (Neutral) can resu lt
in severe transm ission damage. Refer to “Recreational
Towing” in Section 5 and “Towing a Disabled Vehicle” in
Section 6 of this manu al.
D(Drive)
The transm ission autom atically upshifts throu gh fifth
gear. The D (Drive) position provid es optimum driving
characteristics und er all norm al operating cond itions.
R(Reverse)
Shift into this range only after the vehicle has come to a
complete stop .
ElectronicRangeSelect(ERS)Operation
The Electronic Range Select (ERS) shift control allow s
you to move the shifter left (-) or right (+) when the
