As a guide, if you are shorter than average, you will
prefer a lower position, and if you are taller than average,
you ’ll prefer a higher position. When you release the
anchorage, try to move it up or down to make sure that
it is locked in position.
3. Allow the belt to retract. As the belt retracts, you will
hear a clicking sou nd . This ind icates the safety belt is
now in the autom atic locking mode.

HowtoDisengageTheAutomaticLockingMode
Disconnect the combination lap/ shou lder belt and allow
it to retract completely to disengage the autom atic lock-
ing mode and activate the vehicle sensitive (emergency)
locking mode.
Automatic Locking Mode — If Equipped
In this mode, the shou lder belt is autom atically pre-
locked . The belt will still retract to rem ove any slack in
the shou lder belt.
Energy Management Feature
WhenToUseTheAutomaticLockingMode
This vehicle has a safety belt system with an energy
managem ent featu re in the front seating positions to help
further red uce the risk of injury in the event of a head -on
collision.
Anytim e a child safety seat is installed in the rear center
seating position. Child ren 12 years old and und er shou ld
be prop erly restrained in the rear seat whenever possible.
HowToUseTheAutomaticLockingMode
This safety belt system has a retractor assem bly that is
designed to release webbing in a controlled manner. This
featu re is designed to help red uce the belt force acting on
the occupant ’s chest.

Buckle the combination lap and shou lder belt.
2.
Grasp the shou lder portion and pull downw ard until
the entire belt is extracted .
