UNDERSTANDING YOUR INSTRUMENT PANEL
NOTE:
To ensu re prop er compass calibration, make
sure the compass variance is prop erly set before manu -
ally calibrating the compass. Refer to Variance Map .
ToPutIntoaCalibrationMode
Start the engine and leave the transm ission in the P (Park)
position. Set the display to “Com pass/ Temperatu re.”
Press and hold the C/ T button for approxim ately 5
second s to change the display to compass variance mode;
hold ing the button for an additional 5 second s will flash
the “CAL” sym bol ind icating compass calibration mode.
When the “CAL” ind icator is flashing, complete one or
more 360 degree turns, und er 5 mph (8 km/ h), in an area
free from large metal objects or power lines. The “CAL”
ind icator will turn off and the compass will function
norm ally.
Compass/TemperatureButton
Compass Variance is the difference betw een magnetic
north and geograp hic north. In som e areas of the country,
the difference betw een magnetic and geograp hic north is
great enou gh to cause the compass to give false read ings.
If this occurs, the compass variance must be set accord ing
to the Com pass Variance Map .
