Extreme Cold Weather
To insu re reliable starting at tem peratu res below –20°F
use of an externally powered electric engine
(–29°C),
block heater (available from you r dealer) is recom -
mend ed.
If Engine Fails to Start
If the engine fails to start after you have follow ed the
“Norm al Starting” or “Extrem e Cold Weather” proce-
dures, it may be flood ed. Push the accelerator pedal all 5
the way to the floor and hold it there while cranking the
engine. This shou ld clear any excess fuel in case the
engine is flood ed.
WARN ING!
Never pour fuel or oth er flam mable liq uids into the
throttle body air inlet opening in an attem pt to start
the veh icle. This could resu lt in a flash fire causin g
seriou s person al injury.
CAUTIO N!
To preven t damage to the starter, do not cran k the
engin e for more than 15 secon ds at a tim e. Wait 10 to
15
secon ds before tryin g again .
