Check thread ed fasteners for looseness, particu larly on
the chassis, drivetrain components, steering and suspen-
sion. Retighten, if requ ired , to torqu e valu es specified in
the Service Manu al. Also check for accumulations of
vegetation or bru sh that could becom e a fire hazard , or
conceal damage to fuel lines, brake hoses, axle pinion
seals, and prop eller shafts.
Do not bleach, dye or clean the belts with chem ical
solvents or abrasive cleaners. This will weaken the fabric.
Sun damage will also weaken the fabric.
If the belts need cleaning, use a mild soap solu tion or
lukew arm water. Do not rem ove the belts from the
vehicle to wash them .
Replace the belts if they appear frayed or worn or if the
buckles do not work prop erly.

After extend ed operation in mud, sand or water, or
similar dirty cond itions, have you r brake drums, brake
linings, and axle joints insp ected and cleaned as soon as
possible. This will prevent any abrasive material from
causing excessive wear or unp red ictable braking action.
Under freq uent heavy-d uty drivin g condition s,
change all lubrican ts and lubricate body compo-
nents, all drivelin e join ts and steerin g lin kage more
often than in norm al service to preven t excessive
wear.
