It is necessary to follow these step s to be certain that
the tran sfer case is fully in N (Neutral) before
recreation al tow ing to preven t damage to intern al
parts.

Apply parking brake.

Attach vehicle to the tow vehicle with tow bar.
Release parking brake.

Shift transm ission into N (Neutral).
Shift transfer case lever into N (Neutral).
Start engine.
CAUTIO N!
Transmission damage may occur if the autom atic
tran smission is shifted into P (Park ) with the tran sfer
case in N (Neutral) and the engin e running. With the
tran sfer case in N (Neutral) ensure that the engin e is
OFF prior to shiftin g the tran smission into P (Park )
(refer to step s 7 – 8 above).
Shift autom atic transm ission into D (Drive) or manu al
transm ission into any forw ard gear.
Release brake pedal and ensu re that there is no vehicle
movem ent.
