When To Use The Autom atic Locking Mode
Anytim e a child safety seat is installed in a passenger
front or outboard rear seating position (if equ ipped).
Child ren 12 years old and und er shou ld be prop erly
restrained in the rear seat whenever possible.
Energy Management Feature
This vehicle has a safety belt system with an energy
managem ent featu re at the driver and front passenger
seating positions to help further red uce the risk of injury
in the event of a head -on collision.
How To Use The Autom atic Locking Mode
This safety belt system has a retractor assem bly that is
designed to pay out webbing in a controlled manner. This
featu re is designed to help red uce the belt force acting on
the occupant’s chest.
1.
Buckle the combination lap and shou lder belt.
2.
Grasp the shou lder portion and pull downw ard until
the entire belt is extracted .
3.
Allow the belt to retract. As the belt retracts, you will
hear a clicking sou nd . This ind icates the safety belt is
now in the autom atic locking mode.
How to Disen gage The Autom atic Locking Mode
Disconnect the combination lap/ shou lder belt and allow
it to retract completely to disengage the autom atic lock-
ing mode and activate the vehicle sensitive (emergency)
locking mode.
