Front/Rear Axle Fluid
Appearance Care And Protection From Corrosion
The front axle has a thread ed “fill plug” on the cover
plate, and a thread ed “drain plug” on the bottom side of
the carrier.

passable in snow and ice, and those that are sprayed on
trees and road surfaces during other seasons, are highly
corrosive to the metal in you r vehicle. Outsid e parking,
which exposes you r vehicle to airborne contam inants,
road surfaces on which the vehicle is operated , extrem e
hot or cold weather and other extrem e cond itions will
have an adverse effect on paint, metal trim , and und er-
bod y protection.
Fluid Level Check
Lubricant shou ld be 1/ 2Љ (1 cm) below the oil fill hole.
Adding Fluid
Add lubricant only at the fill hole and only to the level
specified above.
Selection of Lubrican t
Use only manu factu rer’s recom mend ed fluid, refer to
Recom mend ed Fluids, Lubricants, and Genu ine Parts for
correct fluid typ e.
The follow ing maintenance recom mend ations will enable 7
you to obtain maxim um benefit from the corrosion
resistance built into you r vehicle.
What Cau ses Corrosion ?
Corrosion is the resu lt of deterioration or rem oval of
paint and protective coatings from you r vehicle.
