THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE
SECURITY ALARM SYSTEM — IF EQUIPPED
This system monitors the vehicle doors, swing gate,
swing gate flip-up wind ow, and ignition for unau tho-
rized operation. When the alarm is activated , the system
provid es both audible and visu al signals. The horn,
head lights, and tail lights will sou nd / flash rep eated ly for
three minu tes. If distu rbance is still present (driver’s
door, passenger door, other doors, ignition) after three
minu tes, the head lights and tail lights will flash for an
additional 15 minu tes.
To Set the Alarm
The alarm will set when you use the rem ote keyless entry
transm itter to lock the doors and swing gate or when you
use the power door lock switch while the door is open.
After all the doors are locked and closed , a red light in the
instru ment cluster will flash rap idly for abou t 16 second s
to signal that the system is arm ing. During this 16 second
arm ing period , opening any door or the swing gate will
cancel the arm ing. If the system successfu lly arm s, the
red light will flash at a slow er rate to ind icate the alarm
is set.
NOTE: The “Panic” and “Security” alarm s are quite
different. Please take a moment to activate the “Panic”
and the “Security” modes to hear the differences in the
horn. In case one shou ld go off in the future, you will
need to know which mode has been activated in ord er to
deactivate it.
To Disarm the System
To disarm the system , use the rem ote keyless entry
transm itter or the key to unlock the driver’s door. If
som ething has triggered the system in you r absence, the
horn will sou nd three times when you unlock the doors.
Check the vehicle for tam pering.
