turningthekeyto4(START).If
thereisdifficultyinturningthekey,
rotatethesteeringwheeluntilthe
keyturnsfreely.Thisconditionmay

Turnthekeyto4(START),then
releasethekeyassoonasthe
enginestarts.Excessivecrankingcoulddamagethestarter.
Note:Iftheenginedoesnotstartonthefirsttry,turnthekeytoOFF,
wait10secondsandtryagain.Iftheenginestillfailstostart,pressthe
acceleratortothefloorandtryagain;thiswillallowtheenginetocrank
withthefuelshutoffincasetheengineisfloodedwithfuel.
Thisvehiclehasacomputerassistedcrankingsystemwhichassistsin
startingtheengine.Iftheignitionkeyisturnedto4(START)andthen
releasedwhentheenginebeginscranking,theenginemaycontinue
crankingforupto10secondsoruntilthevehiclestarts
Guarding against exhaust fumes
Carbonmonoxideispresentinexhaustfumes.Takeprecautionstoavoid
itsdangerouseffects.
Ifyousmellexhaustfumesinsideyourvehicle,haveyourdealer
inspectyourvehicleimmediately.Donotdriveifyousmell
exhaustfumes.
Important ventilating information
Iftheengineisidlingwhilethevehicleisstoppedforalongperiodof
time,openthewindowsatleastoneinch(2.5cm)oradjusttheheating
orairconditioningtobringinfreshair.
ENGINE BLOCK HEATER (IF EQUIPPED)
Anengineblockheaterwarmstheenginecoolantwhichaidsinstarting
andallowstheheater/defrostersystemtorespondquickly.Ifyourvehicle
isequippedwiththissystem,yourequipmentincludesaheaterelement
whichisinstalledinyourengineblockandawireharnesswhichallows
