aredrivinginmud.EvenAWDand4WDvehiclescanlosetractionin
slickmud.Aswhenyouaredrivingoversand,applytheaccelerator
slowlyandavoidspinningyourwheels.Ifthevehicledoesslide,steerin
thedirectionoftheslideuntilyouregaincontrolofthevehicle.
Ifthetransmission,transfercaseorfrontaxlearesubmergedinwater,
theirfluidsshouldbecheckedandchanged,ifnecessary.
Drivingthroughdeepwatermaydamagethetransmission.
Ifthefrontorrearaxleissubmergedinwater,theaxlelubricantshould
bereplaced.
Afterdrivingthroughmud,cleanoffresiduestucktorotatingdriveshafts
andtires.Excessmudstuckontiresandrotatingdriveshaftscausesan
imbalancethatcoulddamagedrivecomponents.

ordownahillorsteepincline,youshouldalwaystrytodrivestraightup
orstraightdown.Avoiddrivingcrosswiseorturningonsteep
slopesorhills.Adangerliesinlosingtraction,slippingsidewaysand
possiblyrollingover.Wheneverdrivingonahill,determinebeforehand
therouteyouwilluse.Donotdriveoverthecrestofahillwithout
seeingwhatconditionsareontheotherside.Donotdriveinreverse
overahillwithouttheaidofanobserver.
