Theignitionmustbeinthe3(ON)positiontooperatetherearwindow
defroster.
Thedefrosterturnsoffautomaticallyafter10minutesorwhenthe
ignitionisturnedtothe1(OFF/LOCK)or2(ACC)position.Tomanually
turnoffthedefrosterbefore10minuteshavepassed,pushthecontrol
again.
Heated Windshield Control (if equipped)
Theheatedwindshieldcontrolislocatedontheinstrumentpaneljust
undertheclimatecontrols.
Toactivatetheheatedwindshield,theenginemustberunningwhilethe
heatedwindshieldcontrolispushed.Onceactivated,asmalllightonthe
buttonwillilluminate.
Note:Duringinitialstart-up,thewindshieldmayhaveashimmering
appearance.Thisisnormaloperationandwillonlylastforapproximately

minute.
Theheatedwindshieldwillturnoffautomaticallyafter:

aperiodofupto8minutes,when
theoutsideairtemperatureis
below40°F(4°C),
aperiodofupto4minuteswhen
theoutsideairtemperatureis
40°F
(4°C)orabove,or
whentheengineisturnedoff.
Tomanuallyturnofftheheatedwindshieldbeforethespecifiedtimehas
passed,pushthecontrolswitchagain.
Note:Pushingtheheatedwindshieldbuttontoactivatethesystemwill
increaseengineidlespeedwhentheengineiswarmandisalreadyator
nearitswarmedupidlerpm.Noincreaseinenginerpmwillbenoticedif
theengineiscoldandrunningathigherrpmsassociatedwithcoldstarts.
Thisrpmincreaseisrequiredtoprovideadequatepowerfromthe
alternatortotheheatedwindshieldandmaintainpowertotheother
electricalfunctionsinthevehicle.
