Tohelppreventdamagetothepowersteeringsystem:
Neverholdthesteeringwheelatitsfurthestturningpoints(untilit
stops)formorethanafewsecondswhentheengineisrunning
Donotoperatethevehiclewithalowpowersteeringpumpfluidlevel
(belowtheMINmarkonthereservoir).
Somenoiseisnormalduringoperation.Ifthenoiseisexcessive,check
forlowpowersteeringpumpfluidlevelbeforeseekingservicebyyour
authorizeddealer.
Heavyorunevensteeringeffortsmaybecausedbylowpowersteering
pumpfluidlevel.Checkforlowpowersteeringpumpfluidlevelbefore
seekingservicebyyourauthorizeddealer.
DonotfillthepowersteeringpumpreservoirabovetheMAXmarkon
thereservoir,asthismayresultinleaksfromthereservoir.
Ifthepowersteeringsystembreaksdown(oriftheengineisturned
off),youcansteerthevehiclemanually,butittakesmoreeffort.Ifthe
steeringwandersorpulls,checkfor:
animproperlyinflatedtire
uneventirewear
looseorwornsuspensioncomponents
looseorwornsteeringcomponents
impropersteeringalignment
Ahighcrownintheroadorhighcrosswindsmayalsomakethesteering
seemtowander/pull.
PREPARING TO DRIVE
Utilityvehicleshaveasignificantlyhigherrolloverratethan
othertypesofvehicles.
Inarollovercrash,anunbeltedpersonissignificantlymorelikely
todiethanapersonwearingaseatbelt.
Utilityvehiclesandtruckshavelargertiresandincreasedground
clearance,givingthevehicleahighercenterofgravitythanapassenger
car.
