Warninglightscanalertyoutoavehicleconditionthatmaybecome
seriousenoughtocauseexpensiverepairs.Awarninglightmay
illuminatewhenaproblemexistswithoneofyourvehicle’sfunctions.
Manylightswillilluminatewhenyoustartyourvehicletomakesurethe
bulbworks.Ifanylightremainsonafterstartingthevehicle,refertothe
respectivesystemwarninglightforadditionalinformation.
Serviceenginesoon:Theservice
enginesoonindicator
illuminateswhentheignitionisfirst
turnedtotheonpositiontocheck
thebulbandtoindicatewhetherthevehicleisreadyfor
Inspection/Maintenance(I/M)testing.Normally,theserviceenginesoon
indicatorwillstayonuntiltheengineiscranked,thenturnitselfoffifno
malfunctionsarepresent.However,ifafter15secondstheserviceengine
soonindicatorblinkseighttimes,itmeansthatthevehicleisnotready
forI/Mtesting.SeetheReadinessforInspection/Maintenance(I/M)
testingintheMaintenanceandSpecificationschapter.
Solidilluminationaftertheengineisstartedindicatestheon-board
diagnosticssystem(OBD-II)hasdetectedamalfunction.Referto
On-boarddiagnostics(OBD-II)intheMaintenanceandSpecifications
chapter.Ifthelightisblinking,enginemisfireisoccurringwhichcould
damageyourcatalyticconverter.Driveinamoderatefashion(avoid
heavyaccelerationanddeceleration)andhaveyourvehicleserviced
immediatelybyyourauthorizeddealer.
