Blindspotmirrorshaveanintegratedconvexspottermirrorbuiltinto
theupperoutboardcorneroftheoutsidemirrors.Theyaredesignedto
assistthedriverbyincreasingvisibilityalongthesideofthevehicle.For
moreinformationonyoursideviewmirrors,refertoExteriormirrorsin
theDriverControlschapter.
Drivingwithblindspotmirrors
Beforealanechange,checkthe
mainmirrorfirst,thencheckthe
blindspotmirror.Ifnovehiclesare
presentintheblindspotmirrorand
thetrafficintheadjacentlaneisat

asafedistance,signalthatyouare
goingtochangelanes.Glanceover
yourshouldertoverifytrafficis
clear,andcarefullychangelanes.
Whentheapproachingvehicleisat
adistance,itsimageissmalland
neartheinboardedgeofthemain
mirror.Asthevehicleapproaches,
theimagebecomeslargerand

beginstomoveoutboardacrossthe
mainmirror(1).Asthevehicle
approachesitsimagewilltransition
fromthemainmirrorandbeginto
appearintheblindspotmirror(2).
Asthevehicleleavestheblindspot
mirroritwilltransitiontothedriver’speripheralfieldofview(3).
