On—presstheSTART/STOPbuttonwithoutapplyingthebrakepedal
(automatictransmission)orclutchpedal(manualtransmission).Thiswill
poweryourvehicle’selectricalsystemandthewarninglightsinthe
instrumentclusterwillilluminate,buttheenginewillremainoff.

Start—presstheSTART/STOPbutton(foranylengthoftime)while
applyingthebrakepedal(automatictransmission)orclutchpedal
(manualtransmission).Note:Theindicatorlightonthestartbuttonwill
illuminatewhenthevehicleisinonmodeandwhentheengineis
started.
TheremaybeareasinsideyourvehiclewheretheIAkeyisnotdetected.
IfthemessageKEYNOTDETECTEDappearsonyourmultifunction
displaywhenyoupresstheSTART/STOPbutton,itmaybenecessaryto
moveyourIAkeytoanotherareawithinthevehicle.TheIAkeymaynot
bedetectedneartheroof(betweenthedriverorpassengersunvisorand
theroof,orintheoverheadconsolearea)orintheextremecornersof
therearpackagetray,nearyouraudiospeakers.Itisnotrecommended
thatyoustowtheIAkeyintheselocations.IfyoumovetheIAkeytoa
locationwhereithasbeendetectedbeforeandyoustillseetheKEY
NOTDETECTEDmessage,yourIAkey’sbatterymaybeloworyoumay
beinanareawithexcessiveradiofrequencyinterference.Ifthisoccurs,
youcanusethebackupmethodtostartyourvehicle(seebelow).

tocommunicatewithyourvehicle
andauthorizeyourvehicletostart
whenyoupresstheSTART/STOP
buttonandapplythebrakepedalor
clutchpedal.Ifexcessiveradio
frequencyinterferenceispresentin
thearea,orifthebatteryinyourIA
keyislow,itmaybenecessaryto
startyourcarbyholdingtheIAkey
tothebackuplocationnearthesteeringcolumn.AfterholdingtheIA
keytothebackuplocation,usetheSTART/STOPbuttonandbrakepedal
(automatictransmission)orclutchpedal(manualtransmission)tostart
yourvehicleasusual.Thevehicleshouldrespondnormallyaslongasthe
IAkeyisatthebackuplocationonthesteeringcolumn.Oncethevehicle
isstarted,theIAkeycanbemovedfromthebackuplocation,ifdesired.
