AIR FILTER
Refertoscheduledmaintenanceinformationfortheappropriate
intervalsforchangingtheairfilterelement.
Whenchangingtheairfilterelement,useonlytheairfilterelement
listed.RefertoMotorcraft௡partnumbersinthischapter.
WARNING:Toreducetheriskofvehicledamageand/or
personalburninjuriesdonotstartyourenginewiththeair
cleanerremovedanddonotremoveitwhiletheengineisrunning.
Changing the air filter  element
1.
Removethefourscrewsthat
securetheairfilterhousingcover.
2.
Carefullyseparatethetwohalves
oftheairfilterhousing.
3.
Removetheairfilterelement
fromtheairfilterhousing.
4.
Wipetheairfilterhousingand
covercleantoremoveanydirtor
debrisandtoensuregoodsealing.
5.
Installanewairfilterelement.Be
carefulnottocrimpthefilterelementedgesbetweentheairfilter
housingandcover.Thiscouldcausefilterdamageandallowunfiltered
airtoentertheengineifnotproperlyseated.
6.
Replacetheairfilterhousingcoverandinstallthescrews.
Note:Failuretousethecorrectairfilterelementmayresultinsevere
enginedamage.Thecustomerwarrantymaybevoidforanydamageto
theengineifthecorrectairfilterelementisnotused.

Ifyouplanonstoringyourvehicleforanextendedperiodoftime
(30
daysormore),refertothefollowingmaintenancerecommendations
toensureyourvehiclestaysingoodoperatingcondition.
Allmotorvehiclesandtheircomponentswereengineeredandtestedfor
reliable,regulardriving.Longtermstorageundervariousconditionsmay
leadtocomponentdegradationorfailureunlessspecificprecautionsare
