Ifyourvehicleloseselectricalpowerwhileyouaredriving(orifthe
ignitionisturnedoff),youcansteerthevehiclemanually,butittakes
moreeffort.Underextremeusageconditions,thesteeringeffortmay
increase.Thisoccurstopreventoverheatingandpermanentdamageto
yoursteeringsystem.Ifthisshouldoccur,youwillneitherlosetheability
tosteerthevehiclemanuallynorwillitcausepermanentdamage.
Typicalsteeringanddrivingmaneuverswillallowthesystemtocooland
steeringassistwillreturntonormal.
TheEPSsystemhasdiagnosticchecksthatcontinuouslymonitorthe
EPSsystemtoensureproperoperation.Whenasystemerroris
detected,thefollowingmessageSTEERINGMALFUNCTIONSERVICE
NOW,STEERINGMALFUNCTIONSTOPSAFELY,POWERSTEERING
MALFUNCTIONSERVICENOWmaydisplayinthemultifunctiondisplay.
