Afteryouaredonepumpingfuel,slowlyremovethefuelfiller
nozzle—allowaboutfivesecondsafterpumpingfuelbeforeremovingthe
fuelfillernozzle.Thisallowsresidualfueltodrainbackintothefueltank
andnotspillontothevehicle.
Note:Afuelspillageconcernmayoccurifoverfillingthefueltank.Do
notoverfillthetanktothepointthatthefuelisabletobypassthefuel
fillernozzle.
Ifthecheckfuelfillinletlampcomeson,thefuelfillinletmaynothave
properlyclosed.Theinletmayhavestuckopenordebrismaybe
preventingtheinletfromfullyclosing.Atthenextopportunity,safely
pullofftheroad,turnofftheengine,openthefuelfillerdoorand
removeanyvisibledebrisfromthefuelfillopening.Inserteitherthefuel
fillnozzleorthefuelfillfunnel(seeRefillingwithaportablefuel
containerforfunnellocation)providedwiththevehicleseveraltimesto
dislodgeanydebrisand/orallowtheinlettocloseproperly.Ifthisaction
correctstheproblem,thecheckfuelfillinletlampmaynotreset
immediately.Itmaytakeseveraldrivingcyclesforthecheckfuelfillinlet
lamptoturnoff.Adrivingcycleconsistsofanenginestart-up(afterfour
ormorehourswiththeengineoff)followedbycity/highwaydriving.
Continuingtodrivewiththecheckfuelfillinletlamponmaycausethe
serviceenginesoonlamptoturnonaswell.
WARNING:Thefuelsystemmaybeunderpressure.Ifyouhear
ahissingsoundnearthefuelfillerdoor(EasyFuel™“nocap”
fuelsystem),donotrefueluntilthesoundstops.Otherwise,fuelmay
sprayout,whichcouldcauseseriouspersonalinjury.
Choosing the right fuel
UseonlyUNLEADEDfuelorUNLEADEDfuelblendedwithamaximum
of10%ethanol.Donotusefuelethanol(E85),diesel,methanol,leaded
fueloranyotherfuel.Theuseofleadedfuelisprohibitedbylawand
coulddamageyourvehicle.
Yourvehiclewasnotdesignedtousefuelorfueladditiveswithmetallic
compounds,includingmanganese-basedadditives.
Note:Useofanyfuelotherthanthoserecommendedmaycause
powertraindamage,alossofvehicleperformance,andrepairsmaynot
becoveredunderwarranty.
