properbuckle(thebuckleclosestto
thedirectionthetongueiscoming
from)forthatseatingpositionuntil
youhearasnapandfeelthelatch
engage.Makesurethetongueis
latchedsecurelybypullingonit.

Toputtheretractorinthe
automaticlockingmode,graspthe
shoulderportionofthebeltandpull
downwarduntilallofthebeltis
pulledout.
Note:Theautomaticlockingmode
isavailableonthefrontpassenger
andrearseats.Thisvehicledoesnot
requiretheuseofalockingclip.
6.
Allowthebelttoretracttoremoveslack.Thebeltwillclickasit
retractstoindicateitisintheautomaticlockingmode.
7.
Trytopullthebeltoutoftheretractortomakesuretheretractorisin
theautomaticlockingmode(youshouldnotbeabletopullmorebeltout).
Iftheretractorisnotlocked,unbucklethebeltandrepeatSteps5and6.

Removeremainingslackfromthe
belt.Forcetheseatdownwithextra
weight,e.g.,bypressingdownor
kneelingonthechildrestraintwhile
pullingupontheshoulderbeltin
ordertoforceslackfromthebelt.
Thisisnecessarytoremovethe
remainingslackthatwillexistonce
theadditionalweightofthechildis
addedtothechildrestraint.Italso
helpstoachievetheproper
snugnessofthechildseattothe
vehicle.Sometimes,aslightlean
towardsthebucklewilladditionally
helptoremoveremainingslackfromthebelt.
