Seating and Safety Restraints
Installing child safety seats  with combination lap and shoulder
belts
Checktomakesurethechildseatisproperlysecuredbeforeeachuse.
Children12andundershouldbeproperlyrestrainedinarearseating
positionwheneverpossible.Ifallchildrencannotbeseatedand
restrainedproperlyinarearseatingposition,properlyrestrainthe
largestchildinthefrontseat.
Wheninstallingachildsafetyseatwithcombinationlap/shoulderbelts:
Usethecorrectsafetybeltbuckleforthatseatingposition.
Insertthebelttongueintotheproperbuckleuntilyouhearasnap
andfeelitlatch.Makesurethetongueissecurelyfastenedinthe
buckle.
Keepthebucklereleasebuttonpointingupandawayfromthesafety
seat,withthetonguebetweenthechildseatandthereleasebutton,
topreventaccidentalunbuckling.
Placevehicleseatbackinuprightposition.
Putthesafetybeltintheautomaticlockingmode.RefertoStep5
below.Thisvehicledoesnotrequiretheuseofalockingclip.
WARNING:Dependingonwhereyousecureachildrestraint,
anddependingonthechildrestraintdesign,youmayblock
accesstocertainsafetybeltbuckleassembliesand/orLATCHlower
anchors,renderingthosefeaturespotentiallyunusable.Toavoidriskof
injury,occupantsshouldonlyuseseatingpositionswheretheyareable
tobeproperlyrestrained.
Performthefollowingstepswheninstallingthechildseatwith
combinationlap/shoulderbelts:
Note:Althoughthechildseatillustratedisaforwardfacingchildseat,
thestepsarethesameforinstallingarearfacingchildseat.
