restrainedusingaproperlyinstalledchildorboosterseatbecauseitis
designedtoinflatedownwardfromtheheadlinerabovethedoorsalong
thesidewindowopening.
TheSafetyCanopysystemisdesignedtoactivatewhenthevehicle
sustainslateraldecelerationsufficienttocausethesidecrashsensorto
closeanelectricalcircuitthatinitiatesSafetyCanopyinflationorwhena
certainlikelihoodofarollovereventisdetectedbytherolloversensor.
TheSafetyCanopyismountedtoroofside-railsheetmetal,behindthe
headliner,aboveeachrowofseats.Incertainlateralcollisionsorrollover
events,theSafetyCanopysystemwillbeactivated,regardlessofwhich
seatsareoccupied.TheSafetyCanopyisdesignedtoinflatebetweenthe
sidewindowareaandoccupantstofurtherenhanceprotectionprovided
insideimpactcollisionsandrolloverevents.
ThefactthattheSafetyCanopydidnotactivateinacollisiondoesnot
meanthatsomethingiswrongwiththesystem.Rather,itmeansthe
forceswerenotofthetypesufficienttocauseactivation.TheSafety
Canopyisdesignedtoinflateincertainsideimpactcollisionsorrollover
events,notinrearimpact,frontalornear-frontalcollisions,unlessthe
collisioncausessufficientlateraldecelerationorrolloverlikelihood.
WARNING:SeveralSafetyCanopysystemcomponentsgethot
afterinflation.Donottouchthemafterinflation.
WARNING:IftheSafety
Canopysystemhas
deployed,theSafetyCanopywill
notfunctionagainunlessreplaced.
TheSafetyCanopysystem
(includingtheA,BandCpillar
trimandheadliner)mustbe
inspectedandservicedbyan
authorizeddealer.IftheSafety
Canopyisnotreplaced,itwillnot
functionagain,whichwillincrease
theriskofinjuryinafuture
collision.
