BRAKE FLUID
Thefluidlevelwilldropslowlyas
thebrakeswear,andwillrisewhen
thebrakecomponentsarereplaced.
FluidlevelsbetweentheMINand
MAXlinesarewithinthenormal
operatingrange;thereisnoneedto
addfluid.Ifthefluidlevelsare
outsideofthenormaloperating
range,theperformanceofthe
systemcouldbecompromised;seek
servicefromyourauthorizeddealer
immediately.
TRANSMISSION FLUID
Checking automatic transmission fluid
Refertoyourscheduledmaintenanceinformationforscheduled
intervalsforfluidchecksandchanges.Yourtransmissiondoesnot
consumefluid.However,thefluidlevelshouldbecheckedifthe
transmissionisnotworkingproperly,i.e.,ifthetransmissionslipsor
shiftsslowlyorifyounoticesomesignoffluidleakage.
Automatictransmissionfluidexpandswhenwarmed.Toobtainan
accuratefluidcheck,drivethevehicleuntilitiswarmedup
(approximately20miles[30km]).Ifyourvehiclehasbeen
operatedforanextendedperiodathighspeeds,incitytraffic
duringhotweatherorpullingatrailer,thevehicleshouldbe
turnedoffuntilnormaloperatingtemperaturesarereachedto
allowthefluidtocoolbeforechecking.Dependingonvehicleuse,
coolingtimescouldtakeupto30minutesorlonger.
WARNING:Thedipstickcapandsurroundingcomponentsmay
behot;glovesarerecommended.

Drivethevehicle20miles(30km)oruntilitreachesnormaloperating
temperature.
