What to do when a tire is punctured
Atirepuncturewithinthetire’streadareacanberepairedintwostages
withthetemporarymobilitykit:
•
Inthefirststage,thetirewillbereinflatedwithasealingcompound
andair.Afterthetirehasbeenreinflated,youwillneedtodrivethe
vehicleashortdistance(approximately4miles[6km])todistribute
thesealantinthetire.
•
Inthesecondstage,youwillneedtocheckthetirepressureand
adjust,ifnecessary,tothevehicle’stireinflationpressure.
First stage: Reinflating the tire with sealing compound and air
Preparation
Parkthevehicleinasafe,levelandsecurearea,awayfrommoving
traffic.Turnthehazardlightson.Applytheparkingbrakeandturnthe
engineoff.Inspecttheflattireforvisibledamage.
Sealantcompoundcontainslatex.Toavoidanyallergicreactions,usethe
non-latexgloveslocatedintheaccessoryboxontheundersideofthe
temporarymobilitykithousing.
Donotremoveanyforeignobjectthathaspiercedthetire.Ifapuncture
islocatedinthetiresidewall,stopandcallroadsideassistance.

Removethevalvecapfromthetirevalve.
Unwrapthecleartubefromthecompressorhousing.
Removethetubecapandfastenthemetalconnectorofthetubetothe
tirevalve,turningclockwise.Makesuretheconnectionistightlyfastened.
Plugthepowercableintothe12V
powerpointinthevehicle.

Removethewarningstickerfoundonthecanisterandplaceitonthe
topoftheinstrumentpanelorthecenterofthedash.

Starttheengine(onlyifthevehicleisoutdoorsorina
well-ventilatedarea).
