TheEPSsystemhasdiagnosticchecksthatcontinuouslymonitorthe
EPSsystemtoensureproperoperation.Whenasystemerroris
detected,thefollowingmessageSERVICEPOWERSTEERING,SERVICE
POWERSTEERINGNOWorPOWERSTEERINGASSISTFAULTmay
displayinthemessagecenter,refertotheMessagecenterinthe
InstrumentClusterchapterformoreinformation.
WARNING:TheEPSsystemhasdiagnosticschecksthat
continuouslymonitortheEPSsystemtoensureproperoperation
oftheelectronicsystem.Whenanelectronicerrorisdetected,the
messagePOWERSTEERINGASSISTFAULTwillbedisplayedinthe
messagecenter.Ifthishappens,stopthevehicleinasafeplace,andturn
offtheengine.Afteratleast10seconds,resetthesystembyrestarting
theengine,andwatchthemessagecenterforPOWERSTEERING
ASSISTFAULT.Ifthemessagereturns,orreturnswhiledriving,takethe
vehicletoyourdealertohaveitchecked.Withthemessagedisplayed,
thesteeringassististurnedoff,makingthevehiclehardertosteer.
WARNING:IfthemessageSERVICEPOWERSTEERINGis
displayedinthemessagecenter,theEPSsystemhasdetecteda
problemwiththesystemfunction.Onthenextkeycyclethemessage
SERVICEPOWERSTEERINGNOWwillbedisplayedandsteering
assistwillberemoveduntilthesteeringsystemisserviced.Haveyour
vehicletakentothenearestdealerassoonaspossible.

Tohelppreventdamagetothepowersteeringsystem,neverholdthe
steeringwheelatitsfurthestturningpoints(untilitstops)formorethan
afewsecondswhentheengineisrunning.Ifthepowersteeringsystem
breaksdown(oriftheengineisturnedoff),youcansteerthevehicle
manually,butittakesmoreeffort.

Donotoperatethevehiclewithalowpowersteeringpumpfluidlevel
(belowtheMINmarkonthereservoir).
