IftheBLISand/orCTAsensesafaultoneithertheleftorrightsensor,
theBLISalertindicatorwillgoonandremainonandthemessage
centerwilldisplayBLINDSPOTSYSTEMFAULTorCROSSTRAFFIC
SYSTEMFAULT.Forfaultsthatmaycausetheassociatedleftorright
alertindicatornottoilluminate,onlythemessagecenterfaultswill
occur.
Blockedsensor
Anextremebuild-upofmaterialson
thequarterpanelfasciassuchas
mudorsnowcancausedegraded
performanceoftheBLIS .Also,
heavyraincancausethesame
effect.TheBLIScandetectthis
degradedperformanceandissuea
blockedwarningtothedrivervia
themessagecenter.Ifaconditionisdeterminedbythesystem,the
messagecenterdisplaysBLINDSPOTNOTAVAILABLEorCROSS
TRAFFICNOTAVAILABLEwarningandtheappropriateleftand/orright
exteriormirroralertindicatorwillilluminate.Themessagecenter
warningmaybeclearedbythedriverbuttheexteriormirroralert
indicatorwillremainilluminated.
WARNING:Justpriortothesystemrecognizingablocked
conditionandalertingthedriver,thenumberofmissedobjects
willincrease.Tohelpavoidinjuries,NEVERusetheBLISasa
replacementforusingthesideandrearviewmirrorsandlookingover
yourshoulderbeforechanginglanes.BLISisnotareplacementfor
carefuldrivingandonlyanassist.
Oncetheblockageisremoved,thesystemwillrequiresomedrivingtime
anddetectionofatleasttwovehicleobjectspriortoresettingorthe
drivercancycletheignitionkey.If,however,blockageisstillpresent
afterthekeycycle,thesystemwillsenseagainthatitisblockedafter
drivingintraffic.
