Parking brake

Applytheparkingbrakewhenever

thevehicleisparked.Tosetthe

parkingbrake,presstheparking

brakepedaldownuntilthepedal

stops.

TheBRAKEwarninglampinthe

instrumentclusterilluminatesand

remainsilluminated(whenthe

ignitionisturnedon)untilthe

parkingbrakeisreleased.

BRAKE

WARNING:Alwayssettheparkingbrakefullyandmakesure

thatthegearshiftissecurelylatchedinP(Park).Turnthe

ignitiontothelockpositionandremovethekeywheneveryouleave

thevehicle.Forvehicleswiththepushbuttonstartsystem,removethe

IAkeywheneveryouleavethevehicle.

Theparkingbrakeisnotrecommendedtostopamovingvehicle.

However,ifthenormalbrakesfail,theparkingbrakecanbeusedtostop

yourvehicleinanemergency.Sincetheparkingbrakeappliesonlythe

rearbrakes,thevehicle’sstoppingdistancewillincreasegreatlyandthe

handlingofyourvehiclewillbeadverselyaffected.

Presstheparkingbrakepedal

downwardagaintoreleasethe

parkingbrake.Drivingwiththe

parkingbrakeonwillcausethe

brakestowearoutquicklyand

reducefueleconomy.

Note:Ifthevehicleisdrivenwith

theparkingbrakeapplied,achime

willsound.
