Isnearertothelowermarkornotchthan
theupper,add0.5litre(1pint)ofoil.
Isbelowthelowermarkornotch,addfor
thedieselengine,1.5litre(2.6pints)ofoil
andforthepetrolengine,0.8litre(1.4
pints)ofoil.Re-checkthelevelaftera
further5minutes.
TOPPINGUPTHEOIL
Yourvehiclewarrantymaybe
invalidatedifdamageiscausedby
usingoilthatdoesnotmeetthe
requiredspecification.
Failuretouseanoilthatmeetsthe
requiredspecificationcouldcause
excessiveenginewear,abuildupof
sludgeanddeposits,andincrease

Priortocheckingtheoillevelmakesurethat:
Overfillingwithoilcouldresultinsevere
enginedamage.Oilshouldbeaddedin
smallquantitiesandthelevel
re-checkedtomakesuretheengineis
notoverfilled.
Thevehicleisonlevelground.
Theengineoiliscold.
Note:Ifitisnecessarytochecktheoillevel
whentheengineishot,switchoffthe
engineandletthevehiclestandfor5
minutestoallowtheoiltodrainbackinto
thesump.Donotstarttheengine.
1. Removetheoilfillercap.
2.
Addoiltomaintainthelevelbetweenthe
MINandMAXmarksornotchesonthe
dipstick.
Theoillevelcanthenbecheckedasfollows:
1.
Withdrawthedipstickandwipetheblade
cleanwithalintfreecloth.
Itisessentialtousethecorrect
specificationoilandtomakesure
theoilissuitablefortheclimatic
conditionsinwhichthevehicleisto
beoperated.
2.
Fullyre-insertthedipstickandwithdraw
againtochecktheoillevel.
