mud,rain,frost,ice,snoworroad
spray.Thismayaffectthesystem's
abilitytoreliablydetecta
vehicle/objectwithintheblindspot.
PleasenotethatBSMmaynotbeable
togiveadequatewarningofvehicles
approachingveryquicklyfrombehind
orvehiclesthatarebeingovertaken
rapidly.
Makesurethewarningindicatorsinthe
exteriormirrorsarenotobscuredby
stickersorotherobjects.
Donotattachstickersorobjectstothe
rearbumpers,thatmayinterferewith
theradarsensors.
BSMmaynotbeabletodetectall
vehiclesandmayalsodetectobjects
suchasroadsidebarriers,etc.

IfanobjectisidentifiedbytheBSMsystemas
beinganovertakingvehicle/object,anamber
warningicon(1)illuminatesintherelevant
exteriormirror,toalertthedriverthatthereisa
potentialhazardinthevehicle'sblindspotand
therefore,thatalanechangemightbe
dangerous.
monitorsazonethatcoverstheareaadjacent
tothevehicle,thatisnoteasilyvisiblebythe
driverandisdesignedtoidentifyanyobject
overtakingthevehicle(3).Thesystemusesa
radaroneachsideofthevehicletoidentifyany
overtakingvehicle/objectwithintheblindspot
areaofthevehicle,whiledisregardingother
objectswhichmaybestationaryortravellingin
theoppositedirection,etc.
Theradarmonitorstheareaextendingfromthe
exteriormirrorrearwards,toapproximately6
metres(20feet)behindtherearwheelsandup
to2.5metres(8.2feet)fromthesideofthe
vehicle(thewidthofatypicalcarriageway
lane).
