enclosedspace.Exhaustgasesare
poisonousandcancause
Whilethevehicleisstationary:

MakesurePark(P)isselectedforvehicles
withanautomatictransmissionorneutral
foramanualtransmissionvehicle.Apply
theparkingbrake.
unconsciousnessanddeathifinhaled.
Iftheenginefailstostart,donot
continuecrankingasthiswilldischarge
thebattery.Itmayalsodamagethe
catalyticconvertorduetounburntfuel
passingthroughtheexhaust.
2.
PressandreleasetheengineSTART/STOP
button.
Whilethevehicleismoving:
Itisnotadvisabletoswitchoffthe
enginewhilethevehicleismoving.
However,ifasituationariseswhere
engineswitchoffisurgent,the
followingprocedureapplies:
Note:TheSmartkeymaynotbedetectedifitis
placedwithinametalcontainerorifitis
shieldedbyadevicewithaback-litLCDscreen,
suchasasmartphone,laptop(includingwhen
insidelaptopbag),gamesconsoleetc.Keep
theSmartkeyclearofsuchdeviceswhen
attemptingKeylessentryorKeylessstarting.

PressandholdtheengineSTART/STOP
buttonforlongerthan2seconds,or
2. PressandreleasetheengineSTART/STOP
buttontwicewithin3seconds.Witheither
method,EngineStopButtonPressedis
displayedintheMessagecentre.

vehicle.
MakesurePark(P)orNeutral(N )is
selected.
SWITCHINGONTHEIGNITION
Toswitchontheignitionwithoutstartingthe
engine:
Automatictransmission:Pressthebrake
pedalfirmly.

Makesurethebrakepedalisnotpressed
andavalidSmartkeyisinsidethevehicle.
Manualtransmission:Presstheclutch
pedalfirmly.

PressandholdtheengineSTART/STOP
buttonuntilthewarninglampsilluminate
intheInstrumentpanel.See298,DRIVER
CONTROLS.

PressandreleasetheengineSTART/STOP
button.See298,DRIVERCONTROLS.
Note:Forvehicleswithadieselengine,the
delayperiodbeforecrankingbeginswillbe
longerinlowambienttemperaturesdueto
extendedglowplugoperation.Duringthis
extendeddelaythebrakepedalmust
remainpressed.
3.
ReleasetheengineSTART/STOPbutton.
Ifthebrakepedalisappliedwhenthe
engineSTART/STOPbuttonispressed,
theenginewillstart.
Oncetheenginehasstarted,thebrakepedal
canbereleasedifitissafetodoso.
ROLLINGRE-START
Note:TheengineSTART/STOPbuttonwillbe
inhibitedfor2secondsaftertheenginehas
beenswitchedoff.
