smoke, perfu mes, etc.) from sticking to the wind ows.
Contam inates increase the rate of wind ow fogging.
Win ter Operation
When operating the system during the winter months,
make sure the air intake, located directly in front of the
wind shield , is free of ice, slush, snow, or other obstru c-
tions.
Summer Operation
Air cond itioned vehicles must be protected with a high
quality antifreeze coolant during summer to provid e
prop er corrosion protection and to raise the boiling point
of the coolant for protection against overheating. A 50 %
concentration is recom mend ed. Refer to Fluids and
Genu ine Parts in Section 7 for the prop er coolant typ e.
Vacation Storage
Anytim e you store you r vehicle, or keep it out of service 4
(i.e. vacation) for two weeks or more, run the air cond i-
tioning system at idle for abou t five minu tes in the fresh
air and high blow er setting. This will insu re adequ ate
system lubrication to minim ize the possibility of com-
pressor damage when the system is started again.
When using the air cond itioner in extrem ely heavy traffic
in hot weather especially when tow ing a trailer, addi-
tional engine cooling may be requ ired . If this situ ation is
encou ntered , operate the transm ission in a lower gear to
increase engine RPM, coolant flow and fan speed . When
stop ped in heavy traffic, it may be necessary to shift into
N (Neutral) and depress the accelerator slightly for fast
idle operation to increase coolant flow and fan speed .
