when  activation   cond itions  are  not  met.  The stabilizer/
sway  bar shou ld rem ain  in on-road  mode  during  norm al
driving  cond itions.
To disconnect   the stabilizer/   sway  bar, shift  to either  4HI
or  4LO (refer  to  “Fou r Wheel  Drive   Operation”   in  this
section)   and   press   the  stabilizer/   sway   bar  button    to
obtain  the   off-road  position.   The  amber  ind icator  light
will  flash  until   the  stabilizer/  sway   bar  has  been   fully
disconnected  .
WARN ING!
Do  not   discon nect  the   stab ilizer  bar   and   drive  on
hard  surfaced   road s  or  at speed  s above   18 mph   (29
km/h),   you  may  lose   control   of  the  veh icle,  which
could  resu lt in seriou  s injury.  The fron t stab ilizer  bar
enhances   veh icle stab ility  and  is necessary   for main  -
tain ing  control   of the  veh icle.  The  system   monitors
veh icle  speed    and   will   attem pt   to   recon nect  the
stab ilizer  bar at speed  s over 18 mph  (29 km/h). This  is
indicated   by  a flash ing  or solid   “Sw ay Bar Indicator
Ligh t.” Once  veh icle speed  is  red uced below   14 mph
NOTE:    The stabilizer/   sway  bar  may  be  torqu e locked
due  to left  and  right  suspension   height  differences.  This
cond ition is  due to  driving  surface  differences  or  vehicle
load ing.
In   ord er   for    the   stabilizer/   sway    bar    to
disconnect/   reconnect,  the right  and  left halves  of the  bar
must   be aligned  . This  alignm ent   may  requ ire  that  the
vehicle  be driven   onto level  grou nd  or rocked  from  side
to side.
To retu rn to on-road   mode,  press the  stabilizer/  sway  bar
button  again.
