STARTING AND OPERATING
(Park), otherw ise the load on the transm ission locking
mechanism may make it difficult to move the selector out
of P (Park).
When parking on a hill, turn the front wheels tow ard the
curb on a downhill grad e and away from the curb on an
uphill grad e.
The parking brake shou ld alw ays be applied whenever
the driver is not in the vehicle.

Alw ays fully apply the park ing brak e when leav-
ing you r veh icle, or it may roll and cause damage
or injury. Also, be certain to leave an autom atic
tran smission in P (Park ), a manual tran smission in
R (Reverse) or 1st gear. Failu re to do so may allow
the veh icle to roll and cause damage or injury.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM
The Anti-Lock Brake System is designed to aid the driver
in maintaining vehicle control und er adverse braking
cond itions. The system operates with a separate com-
puter to modulate hyd rau lic pressu re to prevent wheel
lock-u p and help avoid skid ding on slippery surfaces.
Never leave child ren alon e in a veh icle. Leavin g
child ren in a veh icle unatten ded is dangerou s for a
number of reason s. A child or oth ers could be
seriou sly or fatally injured . Do not leave the keys
in the ign ition . A child could operate power win-
dows, oth er controls, or move the veh icle.
All vehicle wheels and tires must be the sam e size and
typ e and tires must be prop erly inflated to prod uce
accurate signals for the computer.
