The ORC module determ ines if a side collision is
severe enou gh to requ ire the side airbags to inflate.
The front passenger seat assem bly contains critical com-
ponents that affect the front passenger airbag deploy-
ment. Correctly functioning front passenger seat compo-
nents are critical for the Occupant Classification System
(OCS) to prop erly classify the front passenger and calcu-
late the prop er airbag deploym ent. Do not make any
modifications to the front passenger seat components,
assem bly, or to the seat cover.
The ORC Mod ule monitors the read iness of the electronic
parts of the system whenever the ignition switch is in the
START or ON positions. These inclu de all of the item s
previou sly mentioned .
In moderate to severe side collisions, the side airbag
inflator on the crash side of the vehicle is triggered ,
releasing a quantity of nontoxic gas. The inflating side
