the measu red tire pressu re is 30 psi (207 kPa), a tem pera-
ture drop to 20°F (-7°C) will decrease the tire pressu re to
approxim ately 26 psi (179 kPa). This tire pressu re is
sufficiently low enou gh to turn ON the “Tire Pressu re
Monitoring Telltale Light.” Driving the vehicle may cause
the tire pressu re to rise to approxim ately 30 psi (207 kPa),
but the “Tire Pressu re Monitoring Telltale Light” will still
be ON. In this situ ation, the “Tire Pressu re Monitoring
Telltale Light” will turn OFF only after the tires have been
inflated to the vehicle’s recom mend ed cold placard pres-
sure valu e.
The Tire Pressu re Monitor System (TPMS) consists of the
follow ing components:
• Receiver Mod ule
•
• Tire Pressu re Monitoring Telltale Light
4 Tire Pressu re Monitoring Sensors
A tire pressu re monitoring sensor is located in the spare
wheel if the vehicle is equ ipped with a matching full size
spare wheel and tire assem bly. The matching full size
spare tire can be used in place of any of the four road
tires.
Base System — If Equipped
The Tire Pressu re Monitor System (TPMS) uses wireless
technology with wheel rim mounted electronic sensors to
monitor tire pressu re levels. Sensors, mounted to each
wheel as part of the valve stem , transm it tire pressu re
read ings to the Receiver Mod ule.
