The “PAD Ind icator Light” shou ld not be illuminated
when teenagers, most child ren in a forw ard -facing
child restraint or booster seats, most child ren that can
prop erly wear the vehicle’s seat belt, and when an
adult passenger is prop erly seated in the front passen-
ger seat. In this case, the airbag is read y to be inflated
if a collision requ iring an airbag occurs.
NOTE: Even thou gh this vehicle is equ ipped with an
Occupant Classification System , child ren 12 years and
und er shou ld alw ays rid e buckled up in a rear seat in an
approp riate child restraint.

For almost all prop erly installed rear facing child re-
straints, the “PAD Ind icator Light” will be illuminated
ind icating that the front passenger airbag is turned off
and will not inflate. If the “PAD Ind icator Light” is not
illuminated , DO NOT assu me the airbag is turned off
and move the child restraint to the rear seat. A deploying
passenger airbag can cause death or seriou s injury to a
child in a rear facing infant seat.
