withoutapplyingthebrakepedal.Thiswillpoweryourvehicle’selectrical
systemandthewarninglightsintheinstrumentclusterwillilluminate,
buttheenginewillremainoff.Note:Youcannotimmediatelystartyour
vehiclefromtheonmode.Ifyouwouldliketostartthevehicleandyou
areinonmode,youmustfirstswitchthevehicleoff.

Start—presstheSTART/STOPbutton(foranylengthoftime)while
applyingthebrakepedal.Note:Theindicatorlightonthestartbutton
willilluminatewhenthevehicleisinonmodeandwhentheengineis
started.
TheremaybeareasinsideyourvehiclewheretheIAkeyisnotdetected.
IfthemessageNOKEYDETECTEDappearsonyourmessagecenter
whenyoupresstheSTART/STOPbutton,itmaybenecessarytomove
yourIAkeytoanotherareawithinthevehicle.TheIAkeymaynotbe
detectedneartheroof(betweenthedriverorpassengersunvisorand
theroof,orintheoverheadconsolearea)orintheextremecornersof
therearpackagetray,nearyouraudiospeakers.Itisnotrecommended
thatyoustowtheIAkeyintheselocations.IfyoumovetheIAkeytoa
locationwhereithasbeendetectedbeforeandyoustillseetheNOKEY
DETECTEDmessage,yourIAkey’sbatterymaybeloworyoumaybein
anareawithexcessiveradiofrequencyinterference.Ifthisoccurs,you
canusethebackupmethodtostartyourvehicle(seebelow).
Back-upMethodofStarting:Your
IAkeyusesaradiofrequencysignal
tocommunicatewithyourvehicle
andauthorizeyourvehicletostart
whenyoupresstheSTART/STOP
buttonandapplythebrakepedal.If
excessiveradiofrequency
interferenceispresentinthearea,
orifthebatteryinyourIAkeyis
low,itmaybenecessarytostart
yourcarbyinsertingtheIAkeyin
theback-upslot,locatedinyourcenterconsoleutilitycompartment.
InserttheIAkeyintotheslotwithbuttonsfacingoutandwithkeyring
up.AfterinsertingtheIAkeyintotheback-upslot,usethe
START/STOPbuttonandbrakepedaltostartyourvehicleasusual.The
vehicleshouldrespondnormallyaslongastheIAkeyisintheback-up
slotinthecenterconsoleutilitycompartment.Oncethevehicleis
started,theIAkeycanberemovedfromtheback-upslot,ifdesired.
