Checking engine coolant
Theconcentrationandlevelofenginecoolantshouldbecheckedatthe
intervalslistedinscheduledmaintenanceinformation.Thecoolant
concentrationshouldbemaintainedat50/50coolantanddistilledwater,
whichequatestoafreezepointof-34°F(-36°C).Coolantconcentration
testingispossiblewithahydrometerorantifreezetester.Thelevelof
coolantshouldbemaintainedattheFULLCOLDlevelorwithinthe
COLDFILLRANGEinthecoolantreservoir.Ifthelevelfallsbelow,add
coolantpertheinstructionsintheAddingenginecoolantsection.
Yourvehiclewasfactory-filledwitha50/50enginecoolantandwater
concentration.Iftheconcentrationofcoolantfallsbelow40%orabove
60%,

COLDFILLRANGEaslistedontheenginecoolantreservoir
(dependinguponapplication).
Refertoscheduledmaintenanceinformationforserviceinterval
schedules.
Iftheenginecoolanthasnotbeencheckedattherecommendedinterval,
theenginecoolantreservoirmaybecomeloworempty.Ifthereservoiris
loworempty,addenginecoolanttothereservoir.RefertoAdding
enginecoolantinthischapter.
