TheAdvanceTrac௡systemprovidesanavailablesportmodeonsome
models.ThiscanbeselectedutilizingtheAdvanceTracoffcontrolswitch
asshowninthetableabove.
Sportmodeisnotintendedforuseonpublicroadwaysasthismode
provideslessAdvanceTrac௡systeminterventionthanwhenthedefault
ESCandtractioncontrolsystemsareon.Sportmodewillallowmore
spiriteddrivingwhiletheAdvanceTrac௡systemisstillenabled.
STEERING
3.5L
V6engine(SHO):Yourvehicleisequippedwithanelectricpower
steering(EPS)system.Thereisnofluidreservoirtocheckorfill.
Ifyourvehicleloseselectricalpowerwhileyouaredriving(orifthe
ignitionisturnedoff),youcansteerthevehiclemanually,butittakes
moreeffort.Extremecontinuoussteeringmayincreasetheeffortittakes
foryoutosteer.Thisoccurstopreventinternaloverheatingand
permanentdamagetoyoursteeringsystem.Ifthisshouldoccur,youwill
neitherlosetheabilitytosteerthevehiclemanuallynorwillitcause
permanentdamage.Typicalsteeringanddrivingmaneuverswillallowthe
systemtocoolandsteeringassistwillreturntonormal.
TheEPSsystemhasdiagnosticchecksthatcontinuouslymonitorthe
EPSsystemtoensureproperoperation.Whenasystemerroris
detected,thefollowingmessageSERVICEPOWERSTEERING,SERVICE
POWERSTEERINGNOWorPOWERSTEERINGASSISTFAULTmay
displayinthemessagecenter,refertotheMessagecenterinthe
InstrumentClusterchapterformoreinformation.
WARNING:TheEPSsystemhasdiagnosticschecksthat
continuouslymonitortheEPSsystemtoensureproperoperation
oftheelectronicsystem.Whenanelectronicerrorisdetected,the
messagePOWERSTEERINGASSISTFAULTwillbedisplayedinthe
messagecenter.Ifthishappens,stopthevehicleinasafeplace,and
turnofftheengine.Afteratleast10seconds,resetthesystemby
restartingtheengine,andwatchthemessagecenterforPOWER
STEERINGASSISTFAULT.Ifthemessagereturns,orreturnswhile
driving,takethevehicletoyourdealertohaveitchecked.Withthe
messagedisplayed,thesteeringassististurnedoff,makingthevehicle
hardertosteer.
