ENGINEOILRENEWAL(allengines)
NOTE: On some models, to access the engine
oil drain plug, it will be necessary to remove
the rear undertrayaccess panel - see ’Engine
undertray’, earlier in this section.
NOTE: For engine oil check&top-up see
’Owner maintenance’.
Withthevehiclerestingonfirm,levelground,
runtheengineforafewminutessothatthe
oilwilldrainmoreeasily.Turnthestarter
switchtoposition’0’anddisconnectthe
batterynegativelead.
WARNING
DONOTattempt to drain the engine sump if
the engine has been running for some time,
the engine oil will be hot and may cause
severe scalding.
Removetheoilfillercapandpositiona
suitablecontainerundertheoildrainplug(4)
tocollecttheusedoil.
Removethedrainpluganditswasherand
allowtheoiltodraincompletely.
NOTE: If, by necessity, this procedure is
being carried out in dusty or sandy
conditions, refit the drain plug as soon as the
main bulk of the oil has drained.
Whenthesumphasfullydrained,cleanthe
drainingplugandthesurroundingareaofthe
sumpandrefitwithanewcopperwasher.

Refillthesumpwithfreshoilofthecorrect
specification(see’Generaldata’).Refitthe
fillercapandletthevehiclestandforfive
minutestoallowtheoiltodrainbackintothe
sump.Checktheoillevelusingthedipstick
(asdescribedin’Ownermaintenance’)andtop
upuntilthecorrectlevelisobtained.

DONOTuseoilpreviouslydrainedfrom
theengine.

DONOTOVERFILL!
