carriedoutAFTERtheengineoilhasbeen
changed.
NOTE: On V8 engines, to minimise the riskof
draining the oil pump, ensure that the oil is at
the correct operating levelbefore removing
the filter.

Turnthestarterswitchtoposition’0’and
disconnectthebatterynegativelead.
Cleantheareaaroundtheheadofthe
filter.

Placeasuitablecontainerbeneaththe
filter.
Usingastrapwrench,unscrewthefilter
(6)
anddiscarditsafely.
Halffillthefilterandsmeartherubber
washer(7)ofthenewfilter,withclean
engineoilofthecorrectspecification(see
’Generaldata’).

Screwthefilteronclockwiseuntilthe
rubberwashertouchesupagainstthe
machinedface,thentightenafurtherhalf
turnusinghandpressureonly.DONOT
OVERTIGHTEN.

Connectthebatterynegativeleadandrun
theengineatafastidleforfiveminutes.
Checkthefilterforleaks.
Stoptheengineandletthevehiclestandfor
fiveminutestolettheoildrainbackintothe
sump.Checktheoillevel(see’Owner
maintenance’)andtopupifnecessary.

filter, it may be necessary to remove the front
engine undertray- see ’Engine undertray’,
earlier in this section.
