Ifitisnecessarytorecoverthevehicleby
towing,alwaysadheretothefollowing
procedure:
Your vehicle has permanent four wheel
drive - the propeller shaft MUSTbe removed
from the axle to be trailed.
Towingthevehicle(onfour-wheels)

Setthemaingearboxandtransferboxin
neutral.
Ensurethedifferentiallockisinthe
unlockedposition.
IfthefrontaxleistobetrailedALWAYS
adheretothefollowingprecautions:
Turnthestarterswitchtothefirstposition
tounlockthesteeringandleaveinthis
positionwhilethevehicleisbeingtowed.

Ensurethefourboltssecuringthefront
propellershafttothegearboxaretightly
securedwiththeappropriatenutsafter
disconnectingthepropellershaft-
otherwiseseriousdamagetothegearbox
mayoccur.

Securethetowingattachmenttothe
vehicle.
Releasethehandbrake.
NOTE: If, due to an accident or electricalfault
it is not considered safe to turn the starter
switch, the batterymust be disconnected.

Unlockthesteering.
Securethesteeringwheeland/orlinkage
inthestraightaheadposition-the
steeringlockMUSTNOTbeusedforthis
purpose.
IMPORTANTINFORMATION
DONOTattempttotowthevehicleunless
thestarterswitchisturnedtoposition’I’
(tounlockthesteering).
WARNING
The propeller shaft MUSTonly be
reconnected by a qualified Land Rover
engineer. Contact your Land Rover dealer
for further information.

DONOTattempttoremovethe
starterkeyorturntheswitchto
position’0’whilethevehicleisin
motion.
•
Withouttheenginerunning,the
brakeservoandpowersteering
pumpcannotprovideassistance.
Greaterbrakepedalandsteering
effortarethereforenecessaryto
safelycontrolthevehicle.
