Withthetrailerandvehicleunladen,
balancethecombinationsothatthetrailer
draw-barandthehitchpointonthevehicle
areatthesameheight.Adjusttheheight
ofthehitchpointifnecessary.
WARNING
If a Nato Hook or a Jaw and Pintle type
towing accessory is to be fitted to your
vehicle, DONOTattach them directly to the
chassis rear cross-member - it is essential
that an adapter plate kit (available from a
Land Rover dealer) is also fitted.

Checktheoperationoftrailerbrakesand
lights.
Formaximumstability,ensurethatloads
areproperlysecuredandunabletoshift
positionduringtransit.Also,position
loadssothatmostoftheweightisplaced
closetothefloorand,wherepossible,
immediatelyaboveorclosetothetrailer
axle(s).
ThetorquerangesofLandRoverengines
allowmaximum-weightloadstobepulled
smoothlyfromstandstill,andreducegear
changingonhillsorroughterrain.

Afterloadingthetrailer,checkthatthe
weightonthehitchpoint(thisiscalledthe
draw-barloadingweight,ornoseweight),
isinaccordancewiththemanufacturer’s
recommendations.
Thesuspensionisdesignedtocopewitha
heavytrailerloadwithoutupsettingthe
balanceorfeelofthevehicle.

Whencalculatingtheladenweightofthe
trailer,remembertoincludetheweightof
thetrailerPLUSTHELOAD.
Only fit towing accessories that have been
designed and approved by Land Rover.
Ensure that the gross weight and maximum
rear axle weight are not exceeded.
Wheretheloadweightcanbedivided
betweentrailerandtowvehicle,loading
moreweightintothevehiclewillgenerally
improvethestabilityofthecombination.
Whenpreparingyourvehiclefortowing,
alwayspaycarefulattentiontothetrailer
manufacturer’srecommendationsandthe
followingguidelines.

Asmoothstartwillbeachievedwith
trailersover2000kg(4400lb)bymoving
offinLOWrange,thenchangingtoHIGH
rangewhileonthemove(see’Transfer
gearbox’).
•
Ensurethatthetowingvehicletyre
pressuresarecorrectandthatthetrailer
tyrepressuresareasrecommendedbythe
trailermanufacturer.
