Unlikemostothervehicles,thehandbrake
operatesontherearpropellershaft,andNOT
ontheroadwheels.Thismayresultinslight
movementofthevehicleafterthehandbrake
isapplied.
Toengagethehandbrake,depressthebutton
andpulltheleverup.
Torelease,pulltheleverupslightly,depress
thebuttonandlowerthelever.
Alwaysapplythehandbrakefullywhenever
youpark.
Whenparkingonaslope,donotrelyonthe
handbrakealonetoholdthevehicle,parkina
lowforwardgearwhenfacinguphillandin
reversegearwhenfacingdownhill.Forextra
securityonsteepslopes,movethetransfer
leverintolowrangeorengagethedifflock.
WARNING
DONOTapply the handbrake while the
vehicle is in motion as this could result in
loss of vehicle control and damage to the
transmission.
DONOTrely on the handbrake to operate
effectively if the vehicle has been subjected
to immersion in mud and water (see
’Off-road driving’).
