Checkthebeltdeflectionwiththumbpressure,
mid-waybetweenthesteeringpumpand
alternatorpulleys(arrowed(1)inillustration).
Movementshouldbebetween4and6mm
V8engine(withoutair-conditioning)
Checkthebeltdeflectionwiththumbpressure,
mid-waybetweenthealternatorand
crankshaftpulleys.Movementshouldbe
approximately12mm(0.5in).Ifadjustment
isnecessary;
(0.16
and0.25in).Ifadjustmentisnecessary;
Turnthestarterswitchtoposition’0’and
disconnectthebatterynegativelead.
Turnthestarterswitchtoposition’0’and
disconnectthebatterynegativelead.
Slackentheadjustmentlinkclampand
pivotbolts(2).
Loosenbolts(2).
Slackenthetwoalternatorpivotbolts(3).
Loosentheadjustmentbolts(3).
Movethealternatortowards,orawayfrom
theenginetodecrease,orincrease
tension.
Pivotthealternatorawayfrom,ortowards
theengine,toincrease,orreducetension.
TightentheUPPERadjustmentbolt(3).
TightentheLOWERadjustmentbolt(3).
Tightenbothbolts(2).
Connectthebattery,runtheengineforfive
minutesatafastidleandthenswitchoff.
Re-checkbelttension.
