the key cannot be rem oved until you obtain service.
Automatic Transaxle Ignition Interlock System
This system prevents the key from being rem oved unless
the shift lever is in PARK. It also prevents shifting out of
PARK unless the key is in the OFF or RUN positions.

Key-In-Ignition Reminder
Leavin g child ren in a veh icle unatten ded is danger-
ous for a number of reason s. A child or oth ers could
be injured . Child ren should be warn ed not to tou ch
the park ing brak e, brak e pedal or the gear selector
lever. Don’t leave the keys in the ign ition . A child
could operate power windows, oth er controls, or
move the veh icle.
Opening the driver’s door when the key is in the ignition
and is in the OFF, LOCK, or ACC position, sou nd s a
signal to rem ind you to rem ove the key.
SENTRY KEY — IF EQUIPPED
With this system , an electronically coded ignition key
send s a signal to the vehicle electronics. If the electronics
recognizes the signal, the vehicle will start and continu e
to run. If the system does not recognize the signal the
vehicle will start and run for 2 second s then shu t off. The
system will allow the engine to be started and run (for 2
second s) up to six times after which the starter motor will
be disabled and the engine will not crank.
CAUTIO N!
An unlock ed car is an invitation to thieves. Alw ays
rem ove key from the ign ition and lock all doors
when leavin g the veh icle unatten ded.
