changed if you REGULARLY tow a trailer for more
than 45 minu tes of continu ous operation. See Sched ule
“B” in section 8 of this manu al for transaxle fluid
change intervals.
FLEXIBLE FUEL – (2.7L Engines with Automatic
Transmission Only)
E-85 General Information
The inform ation in this section is for Flexible Fuel ve-
hicles only. These vehicles can be identified by the uniqu e
fuel filler door label that states Ethanol (E-85) or Un-
lead ed Gasolin e Only. This section only covers those
subjects that are uniqu e to these vehicles. Please refer to
the other sections of this manu al for inform ation on 5
featu res that are common betw een Flexible Fuel and
gasoline only powered vehicles.
NOTE: Check the autom atic transaxle fluid level before
tow ing. Fluid discoloration, or a burnt odor, show s the
need for a transm ission fluid and filter change.
NOTE: For vehicles equ ipped with Autostick. By using
the Autostick modes, and slecting a specific gear range,
frequ ent shifting can be avoid ed. The highest gear range
shou ld be selected that allow s for adequ ate perform ance.
For exam ple, choose “4” if the desired speed can be
maintaned . Choose “3” or “2” if need ed to maintain the
desired speed .
CAUTIO N!
Only veh icles with the E-85 fuel filler door lab el can
operate on E-85.
NOTE: Extend ed driving at high RPM shou ld be
avoid ed to prevent excess heat generation. A red uction in
vehicle speed may be requ ired to avoid extend ed driving
at high RPM. Retu rn to a higher gear range or vehicle
speed when road cond itions and RPM level allow s.
ETHANOL FUEL (E-85)
E-85 is a mixtu re of approxim ately 85% fuel ethanol and
15%
unlead ed gasoline.
